Personal Statement :
Beginning counseling is one of the most significant decisions an individual makes in life. It should be life changing. Thus, I take my responsibilities to support my clients and assist their development very seriously.
During the first session, new clients identify the reasons they seek counseling. After we discuss their goals, I gather some personal history that may impact how difficulties have developed. During subsequent sessions, we collaborate to identify behaviors, situations, or thinking that impact how the clients reach their goals. Although the focus and process is unique for each individual, relationships and the interface between emotions and thinking/problem solving are key components of each treatment.
Each client sets the direction of the counseling; however, I ask questions or offer an observation when I notice the treatment is moving off-track. Although my general approach is a psychodynamically informed psychotherapy, I draw on CBT and other approaches to best fit counseling to each client's needs.

Client Profile :
I have worked with clients from many cultures, ethnicities, sexual orientations, religions, and ages. I have particular experience with individuals age 17 through 50 who are negotiating life changes such as pursuing career changes, making educational decisions, or who are in the midst of relationship transitions with family, friends, partners or pets. Understanding the nuanced, intertwined nature of the individual's thought and emotional sets within the context of his/her total life experience aids my clients in their successful pursuit of current goals.
