Personal Statement :
|
Life can be difficult, but trying times also offer wonderful opportunities. When things seem to be spinning out of control, that's often the best time to discover inner strengths. Our world may seem chaotic, but that's the time when we can grow and try new things, even follow our dreams.
If your relationships, career, home life seems unmanageable, perhaps I can help. My mission is to help individuals and families survive life's transitions. I have counseled adolescents, families, couples and individuals for over 15 years and specialize in re-connecting and opening communication in strained relationships. While religion/spirituality may not be the focus of our work, I find that it often plays a part in people's perspectives and welcome the discussion.
It's wonderful to see relationships grow as people encounter their individual capacity for change and growth. It's important for me to parther with a client in order to move toward healing.
My methods are relational and client-focused. I support people where they are and have different ways of connecting. Sometimes we may move, draw, play or listen to music, as well as talking. While the goal is always healing, moving toward wholeness, our journey may take different paths.
Besides working with the Spiritual Life Center, I also consult with a social service agency in its after-school program and supervise social work student interns.

Client Profile :
|
|
I enjoy working with a variety of clients, but particularly focus on working with youth and families. Parenting future generations takes a great deal of support, patience and listening. I see raising children and adolescents today as a great challenge, but one that can be worthwhile and rewarding. Parents/Couples are under a great deal of stress -- demands from work, society, schools, relationships, spiritual issues -- and may need help from an "outside expert" to juggle all that is going on in their lives. Today's parents are young and older, straight and GLBT, racially mixed, single and married; all face unique challenges. I'm aware of these challenges and honored to be part of the solution for my clients.
